El Uso de las Tecnologías en la Enseñanza de Lenguas (Prof. Dafne González)
A blended course

Interaction is the lifeblood of any online course or of any course for that matter, whether online or face-to-face, but it is even more critical in online courses. In order for you and for the course to be successful, all participants need to feel that they are constantly involved in the course through an ongoing dialogue.

Information

To be able to successfully complete this course, please read the information below:

  1. Get familiar with all the information contained on the course Web site, in Moodle, and with the resources provided by the BaW session.
  2. Interaction is the core of any online/blended course. We should keep a dialogue going during these 12 weeks. Post comments, reply to comments, share what you have learned, express ideas, concerns, suggestions. In sum, let us know you are there, learning and helping others to learn.
  3. Be sure to post your work to the space indicated in the weekly activities. DO NOT send it by e-mail to your teacher unless it has been requested.
  4. Read the weekly activities in advance. If you have questions do not hesitate to ask your teachers and/or classmates. Use the Answers/Questions Forum in Moodle. All questions will be considered important.
  5. Do the readings before the f2f session
  6. Make a "to do list" of the tasks you have to complete for each week.
  7. Check all the live events taken place weekly during the course. Check your agenda to see if you can attend. If so, visit the venue where the event will take place to be sure you can have access to it. If you encounter any problem ask for help, do not wait until the last moment.
  8. If you cannot attend a synchronous event, you might find it was recorded to be accessed asynchronously at your own convenience. Check the the chat sessions page at the BaW site where you will find a link to the recorded session.
  9. You have a whole week to complete the BaW tasks, but remember that some activities will take during the course hours on Tuesdays. In case you cannot attend f2f, you can always connect to the Internet, and you can participate from any of our communication tools (Yahoo Messenger, Alado, Tapped In). Be sure, though, to let your teacher know about your situation, in advance, to make the necessary arrangements.
  10. Be sure to understand the assessment plan in order to meet the requirements of the course.
  11. Be open and patient to learn by trial and error, do not get discouraged if something does not go as you want the first time. Ask for help when needed.
  12. We are open to suggestions and ideas, this is a collaborative learning endevour.
  13. If you want to send a message to all the participants in our course, use the News Forum in our moodle, you can also send light attachments.
  14. If you want to open a new discussion forum in moodle, use the News Forum and I will place it in the corresponding week.
  15. This course will require a dedication of around 10-12 hours a week (including class hours)
  16. There are many readings in the references page, you will not be asked to read them all, but you can refer to them if you need them for your reactions to readings, your essays and your final project. Feel free to consult me.
  17. And....the most importat aspect: enjoy while learning collaboratively!
