Introduction
- Getting to know each other and the computer lab equipment.
- Check the web site and get familiar with all the content contained

know which are the tasks for each week of this course.

- Register in the Becoming a Webhead Yahoo Group.

a. What advantages/disadvantages do you see in the use of a forum
for language learning?
b. How different are forums and distributions lists?
c. Is there a difference between e-mail and distributions lists?
d. Which one(s) would you prefer for your teaching context, and
why.
e. How different are the forums in Moodle from the BaW forum?
f. What difference(s) do you perceive between Moodle and Yahoo
Groups?
- Share your comments with the whole class.
- Go to the BaW
YG and select two introductions posted by other participants
(not in this class) and reply to them.
- For next session each one of you will select
two readings
(week 2 Baw), and write 3 -4 questions about each of them. Post
your questions to the Moodle forum: "Questions
about readings". Name the thread with the name of the
reading, and then add your questions to the reading and the link
to the page where the reading can be found.
- Don't forget that on Saturday 21, at 9:00 am (13:00 GMT) there
will be a Tour to Tapped
In guided by B.J. Berquist. Be sure to be there before the
time, and log in as guest or register to become a member (it is
free). Your computer should have Java Web Start in order to be
able to get access to the place. We are usually there at noon
GMT (8:00 am). If time allows, we will get there in this session.

Week 3 (Jan 23 - 29)
Text and Voice synchronous communication tools
- Discuss the session at Tapped In. What you liked and disliked.
- Open Yahoo Messenger. Add your classmates' Yahoo ID's to your
buddy list. With your teacher and classmates (in a conference
window where you will be invited by your teacher ) learn about
all the features in Yahoo Messenger.
- Open a new conference and invite a classmate who has read at
least one of the readings you selected. Take turns to share your
questions and discuss them. Make sure to save the chat.
- Post your chat to the Forum "chatlog
week 3". You can post it as an attachment if you saved
it as Word document, or just copy and paste.
- Read the chatlog and reflect about:
a. the experience of using text chat to discuss
a topic
b. la coherencia del discurso en el chat
c. would it have been different if there had
been more than 3 people? How about if you had used voice instead
of text?
- Go to the BaW
YG, and send a message with something you would like to share
or ask, or simply reply to two posts sent by other participants.
Try to answer the questions for the week.
- Don't forget that Michael Coghlan will be at Yahoo Messenger
on ...., , at .... GMT, for a chat on the use of voice communication
tools. In case you cannot attend, talk to me to have a voice session
at YM any other time during the week.
