Researchers and textbook authors categorize the types of research in a variety of ways. For now, it is sufficient to be aware that a variety of types exist and that researchers may differ slightly in how they are are organized and named. Within each type there may also be subcategories.
These categories are proposed by Fraenkel,
J.R., & Wallen, N.E. in How to design and evaluate research in education
(see References).
Clicking on the labels will take you to sites created by different authors and
universities (see References) with notes about
the different types of research. You are encourage to go back for further reading.
